B100-to-PC Serial Cable
To load a new software image, the B100 is connected to the PC via a serial cable. Here's the info you need to make such a cable.
To connect to the PC serial port, you need a 9-pin female DB9 connector. The pin numbers are marked on the DB9 connector.
The B100 serial port uses an RJ-11 connector. The RJ-11 connector looks like a standard USA modular phone connector, but it uses 6 wires (not like some connectors which just use 4 wires). You need a male RJ-11 connector to plug into the B100 (where the GPS usually plugs into the system unit).
Number the connectors on the RJ-11 as follows.
Hold the RJ-11 connector so that:
The left-most pin is pin 1, and the right-most pin is pin 6.
Connect three wires as follows:
B100 RJ-11 pin | Function | DB9 pin |
1 | ground | 5 |
2 | B100 COM1 TX -> to PC RX | 2 |
3 | B100 COM1 RX <- from PC TX | 3 |
4 | B100 COM2 TX -> to GPS | none |
5 | B100 COM2 RX <- from GPS | none |
6 | ground | none |
